About Mattahari

Matahari, which originally means sun or ”Eye of the Day” in Indonesian became the inspiration for the name Mattahari, my new business name.

Most of my rugs are also circular and the circle has represented the union between the spiritual and the material since the beginning of time.

I want my rugs to be much more than just a rug. Design, symbols, shapes, colours and energy are all parts of the natural language of the subconscious, both individually and collectively. We are influenced by our environment and can consciously choose shapes and colours that bring harmony to our surroundings and give us a sense of wellbeing. The sacred geometry that I am using in my designs is an adventurous journey to other realities that connects us with our environment. Our existence is very tighly interwoven with these infinite shapes and patterns.

An introduction to sacred geometry

Everything in our natural world, from the smallest snow flake to the incredible human body with our DNA is built according to sacred geometry. A shape or a pattern is made from identical parts which are identical to the big whole, like a holograph. That way the sacred geometry makes visible our connectedness with nature and creation – the whole universe. In many cultures, like India, Egypt, Mexico and China the same patterns and shapes can be found at their sacred places.

See the links below for more information regarding holy geometry.
